TIMELESS COURT IZU is a condo hotel located in the Izu Highlands. The original architecture, designed by Chiaki Arai in 1990, has been recognised as a masterpiece and was selected for “The JIA Twenty-five Year Award”, intended to be passed on to the next generation. While inheriting the theme of the fusion and universality of the East and West that Chiaki Arai once conceived, this design aims to combine different temporal elements in one space. Eastern wabi-sabi philosophy and Western lifestyles merge to create a TIMELESS design capable of withstanding the changes of time.
Wooden fittings, sandstone and tiles aged over 30 years. Newly sourced wood, tiles, fabric, and older materials and stones that have weathered longer periods of time. These different time periods and materials combine, marking time together.
